The military leader, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, has asked members of the military council and senior military officers to list their intentions to run in the election, BBC sources in Nay Pyi Taw said.

The current military structure includes ten generals and more than 20 lieutenant generals, some of whom are likely to run.

With just six months left for the election announced by the military council, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing is already focusing on his post-election future.
